Over 250 riders in wet and cold at SloXcup kick-off in Vrtojba, Energija Team’s Gregor Dimic takes his first win in men’s elite race.
2016 Slovenia Cross-country Cup season started in Vrtojba in West of the country under the new series name SloXcup. Local club DEŠ Fleš put on the fifth edition of XC Griči race.
After a nice morning it started to rain, then the wind picked up and blew away the dark clouds. Under these conditions the under 23 riders ruled the men’s elite race. Finally there were three of them leading into the sixth and last lap of the race: Gregor Dimic (Energijateam.com), Rok Naglič (in his first national race with Calcit bike team) and Italian Moreno Pelizzon (UC Caprivesi).
In the end Dimic took the win on his 22nd birthday, 7 seconds in front of Naglič. Pelizzon was not able to follow their pace in the final lap but defended the first place from Croatian Đani Simčić (Adrenalina), the fastest elite rider and early race leader.
Tina Perše (Calcit) won the women’s race. Complete results below.
Second stop of SloXcup will be XC Idrija on April 9th.
