Only one bid for Bike Park Pohorje Flow line trail. But there is supposed to be a strategic partnership behind it.

We unofficially learned that the Tuesday’s opening of bids at City of Maribor offices for running of the only legal trail in Bike Park Pohorje, the Flow Line, consisted of only one bid. It was a bid submitted by Marprom, city’s own public company which is already running the lifts and winter season on Pohorje mountain.

Therefore if City of Maribor in fact rents the trail to Marprom, this company will be managing the park in cooperation with some strategic partners more familiar to bikers.

The first one is Iztok Tomšič, last year’s tenant and former Maribor World Cup course chief. The other one is Terme Maribor, main provider of accommodation on the mountain with their own hotel Habakuk and the bankrupt ŠC Pohorje hotels Arena and Bellevue plus numerous apartments.

“We wrote the bid together and if Marprom gets the project we will be working together,” Iztok told mtb.si. “Marprom is responsible for the gondola and they will be selling the tickets but they will not be taking care the bike park trails. For me working with them means better cooperation on the mountain regarding everything required for building and maintaining the park.”

Matej Stapić, a top 4X and BMX racer, is also involved with his construction machinery family business.

“There is still the city behind it and they are the ones setting the pass prices so we can’t do much about those even for packages with accommodation,” adds Tomšič.

Flow Line could be opened as soon as Friday April 15th Tomšič said.
