Exciting racing in Slovenia in dry and windy conditions opens iXS European Downhill Cup season.
German champion Johannes Fischbach (Radon Magura Factory) won the elite men’s superfinal of the opening race of iXS European Downhill Cup in Kranjska Gora for second year in a row. This time he was 3 tenths of a second faster than the second placed Pole Slawomir Lukasik (NS Bikes ProFro), the last man from the start. Former Italian champ Johannes Von Klebelsberg (ASC Tiroler Radler DH Team) took third.
The highest ranked rider on the UCI list, Austrian Markus Pekoll (MS Mondraker) missed the podium in 4th, followed by two Slovenians Jure Žabjek and Žiga Pandur (both Unior Tools Team) in 5th and 6th.
South Tirolean rider Veronika Widmann (Bike Club Egna Neumarkt) won the elite women’s race in front of last year’s winner Carina Cappellari (Radon Magura Factory) of Switzerland in second while Slovenian Monika Hrastnik (Črn trn/Blackthorn) celebrated her first series podium in third.
