Wrap-up of action at iXS European Downhill Cup opening last weekend with photos by Klemen Humar, Marko Obid and official series lensman Benjamin Prescher.
Last weekend Kranjska Gora hosted the opening round of iXS European Downhill Cup for second year. Besides the usual suspects there were representative of less regular countries on the start list like Kazahstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, all the Baltic countries, lone riders from Argetina, USA, New Zealand… in the end we counted record 32 countries!
May is quite like April this year but in the end, after all the dark forecasts and some raindrops during Saturday’s qualification, Sunday’s final run went down in ideal conditions except for some strong winds that hindered some of the riders on the open ski slopes.
The organization by park manager Jure Culiberg and his crew was smooth. The course in Kranjska Gora will never be the longest or steepest and probably nobody will ever win here chainless… but riders loved the Air Line jumps, rooted forest sections were a challenge and in the end the best guy and gal won.
Racing continues in Kranjska Gora this weekend with a race of Slovenia and Croatia Cups.
