The one before last SloEnduro series race doubled as Slovenian National Championships. Changes in the lead, Peršak still in position to take the series.

Slovenian rider Vid Peršak (Sunbikers Mondraker Enduro Racing) in men’s and Austrian Yana Dobnig (RLM Mondraker Racing Team) are the winners of fourth round of the 2018 SloEnduro series on Krvavec mountain in Central Slovenia.

Enduro Krvavec was held on the trails of Bike Park Krvavec and organized by Bam.Bi team as part of the two day Fresh Bike Festival. It was also this year’s Slovenian National Championships, sixth in the history of the discipline. Apart from Vid who successfully defended the title it was Ana Tancik (Energijateam.com) who won the Championship in women’s category by finishing second behind Dobnig.

The race with four special stages and 23 minutes and 15 second of race time for the winner took place on the nastiest day of the summer, under rain and in cold weather. By the end of the race the temperatures »warmed up« to 8 degrees. Most rainfall was overnight but on Krvavec trails this didn’t cause too much mud and only some turns were very slippery. Special stage 4 was shortened and there were some changes to the schedule ready in case of a thunderstorm. For well dressed and warmed-up riders the conditions were almost normal. 60 riders from 7 countries set off in the morning.

Nejc Huth

Peršak who missed two races of the series and almost gave up his hopes for fourth consecutive series title won first three special stages including the Kenda SuperStage. Nejc Huth (Energijateam.com) narrowly beat him on SS4. Huth finished second 24 seconds behind Peršak on the day and besides winning silver medal in National Championships Huth also took the lead in the series before the final – but not alone. Tim Jež (Kamplc Racing Team) who finished fouth today also has the same number of points, 930.

Davor Kacin

Davor Kacin (Kamplc Racing Team) finished third on the day 1:02 behind Peršak and earned the Championship bronze. He is tied up in third place in the series ranking with Peter Mihalkovits (Radwelt MK Factory Racing) who finished fifth today.

A bit mixed up today’s top five is also the series top five before the final race. Namely Peršak climbed from 8th to 5th and will still be battling for SloEnduro crown. If he wins in Grožnjan then Huth or Jež should not be finishing second and Vid will be the series champion once again. It will be a hot fall in Istria!

Yana Dobnig

Yana Dobnig won all four stages of women’s race and won by over five minutes over Ana Tancik. Maja Lobnik (Ganesha Team) finished third and took silver in National Champs with Tjaša Rutar (Rajd Ljubljana) in bronze position. Dobnig also took the series lead from Petra Bernhard who got injured in a round of downhill World Cup in Canada.

National Champions

By the fastest two…

Yana Dobnig: “It was amazing, riding in the wet was so much. The first stage was tough because of the climbs and the third one, the steepest one, was my favourite. It was a bit cold but once you got on your bike it was okay. I am missing Petra, too bad she can’t be here.”

Vid Peršak: “I had a great day. For the first time after EWS Petzen-Jamnica I was happy with my riding. I’ve been feeling great on my bike and nothing could get in my way. I took a break after Canada and also spent some time tuning my bike. I feel so much better on it now thanks to Fox Slovenia. The trails here were interesting, dynamic. It’s my first time here on Krvavec and I’ll be back during my studies in Ljubljana.”
