Sunday’s race of the downsized Bike & Beer Festival welcomed 45 riders from five countries to the soaked trails above Ilirska Bistrica. The weather did not look very promising in the morning but rain stayed away for the time of competition so the conditions were not too extreme.

The riders took on three special stages with a total elevation of around 600m. They agreed that the first stage was physically the most demanding of all while the second and third brought most smiles to their faces even in muddy conditions.

Nejc Huth (Energijateam.com) ended up on top of the ranks with the total time of 10 minutes, 2 seconds and 4 hundred of a second. Miha Tratnik Bajc (MBK Črni Vrh) followed in second 12.08 behind and Tim Krašovec (Wolf Racing Team) in third 21.87 behind the winner. The first two also won in their respective age categories – Huth in 25-29 and Tratnik Bajc in 18-24.

Tina Perše (Top Fit) was the fastest woman in 23rd overall, 1:28.91 behind Huth. Home rider Nina Jančič (GKD Borovci) followed in second and Tamara Homar (Energijateam.com) in third place.

Home rider Luka Samokec (GKD Borovci) won the youngest 12-17 category in front of Croatian Logan Šobot (Adrenalina MTB Team) in second and Italian Alessandro Frisenna (A.S.D. 360 MTB) in third place.

Apart from Jančič and Samokec two more locals kept medals in home club: Matej Gombač was 3rd in 25-29 and Matej Krebelj 3rd in 30-34. Good motivation for more work in the young club.
